PERSONAL PROFILE

When embarking upon a new project I try to make a significant impact in some way. I’ve learnt to be flexible in applying the experience and skills I’ve obtained in my career when managing other projects through creative problem solving and innovative thinking. I possess a strong eye for detail and the bigger picture. I can thrive independently as well as in a team environment.

  • Encouraged the development of early literacy skills by reading books and engaging in activities with 20 preschool children in inner city communities

  • Adapted curricula to the different learning levels in the classroom by creating student specific material

  • Prepared weekly materials for the classroom and further facilitate learning

  • Develop leadership skills in 35 teenagers by conducting workshops centered around effective communication and confidence building

  • Led daily debrief meetings with other facilitators regarding progress of students and areas needed for improvement

  • Directed all social media output, including setting up press conferences

  • Coordinated with local non-profit, “SUKA”, to develop sustainability programs related to the rehabilitation of victims of slavery

  • Gained expertise in online education best practices and platforms (NovoEd) through research

  • Supported the research and facilitation of online courses, learning labs, and challenges, including interview preparation and facilitation for the Plastics Innovation Challenge.

  • Ensured all courses were updated on schedule and without error while responding to around 25 emails a day from students

  • Recruited and managed a team of teaching assistants (“Catalysts”) to provide one-on-one feedback to students in +Acumen’s team-based courses

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Volunteering has always played a significant role in my life.

I believe that giving back to the community that has helped shaped me is an integral part of the person I hope to become.

Weekly meetings with Burmese refugees where we would implement an English, Math and Science curriculum. After classes, we would spend time doing arts and crafts activities with the children or take them outdoors to use the sports facilities at our school.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY VOLUNTEER

June 2013

We spent 2 weeks in Cambodia building houses for locals who had been living in squatter settlements. We built stronger walls made from bricks and layered cement around their makeshift homes.

STREET FEEDING VOLUNTEER

August 2011-August 2012

Packaged nutritious meals and delivered them to homeless people, recovering drug users and various other disenfranchised groups on the streets of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
